Cape Independence movement launches single-issue party
On the 10th of October, the Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde, denied the request for an independence referendum despite a letter of request signed by 30 000 citizens.
In response to this, the Western Cape Independence movement established the Referendum Party.
The Referendum Party, according to its website, is a "single-issue political party established to force a referendum on Cape Independence."

🟦 DA 23% 🔽 (24%)
🟥 EFF 17% 🔼 (11%)
The polling reflects a further decline of the ANC's popularity in the lead up to the next elections. Polling data from November 2022 made headlines when, for the first time ever, it suggested that the ANC will lose their majority support.
⚠️ It appears that a portion of the ANC's votes are bolstering the EFF whose popularity increased by an equal amount.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Angry protesters in Cape Town confronted the king and queen of the Netherlands on Friday as they visited a museum that traces part of their country’s 150-year involvement in slavery in South Africa.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were leaving the Slave Lodge building in central Cape Town when a small group of protesters representing South Africa’s First Nations groups -- the earliest inhabitants of the region around Cape Town -- surrounded the royal couple and shouted slogans about Dutch colonizers stealing land from their ancestors.
The king and queen were put into a car by security personnel and quickly driven away as some of the protesters, who were wearing traditional animal-skin dress, jostled with police.

Workers at the operation near Johannesburg were kept underground after the night shift ended by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union, according to Jon Hericourt, a Gold One spokesman. “Last night we heard AMCU members prevented workers from coming back up,” he said.
